SQL Northstar: A Fast, Managed Site for a Database Performance Consultant

Sean Fennessy has spent the better part of two decades deep in database work: engineering data pipelines at IBM, then building and tuning SQL Server environments at firms like First Data, PayPal, and Lincoln Financial Group. In late 2025 he launched SQL Northstar, his own consulting practice, to help businesses get real performance out of their SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases. As a fellow Omahan, he came to Tiempo Software needing a credible online presence that would attract the right clients and let his track record speak for itself.

Sean's priority was straightforward: he wanted to spend his time writing technical articles and working with clients, not maintaining a website. The blog is how he demonstrates his expertise to prospects, so anything that pulled him toward hosting headaches, software updates, or platform troubleshooting was time taken away from the work that actually wins business.

Tiempo Software built SQL Northstar as custom, hand-coded HTML, kept deliberately light for speed. There's no page builder and no plugin overhead, just clean pages that load quickly and keep his case studies and articles easy to find. The site runs on a DigitalOcean server that Tiempo Software maintains, with daily backups and server security handled on our end.

Now the responsibilities are cleanly split. Sean focuses on his articles and consulting work, while Tiempo Software keeps the site fast, backed up, and secure. He doesn't have to think about uptime or updates. The website stays out of his way and does its job.
