What to include
No need for a spec or an RFP. A sentence or two is enough to start. If you have them handy, these help:
- What you're trying to do, or what's broken.
- The systems and tools involved: your CRM, website platform, TMS, and so on.
- Rough timing, and whether there's a deadline.
- A budget range, if you have one in mind.
Not sure yet what you need? Say that. Sorting it out is what the first conversation is for.
What happens next
- I reply directly, usually the same business day.
- A short call to understand the problem and whether I'm the right fit for it.
- A scoped proposal. Project work is usually scoped and bid as a whole rather than billed by the hour, so the price is settled before the build starts.
- Then we build, with the person you talked to writing the code. More on services and who I am.
