// cron syntax cheatsheet
A cron expression has 5 fields, separated by spaces, that together describe a schedule:
* * * * * │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ └── day of week (0-6, 0 = Sunday) │ │ │ └───────── month (1-12) │ │ └──────────────── day of month (1-31) │ └─────────────────────── hour (0-23) └────────────────────────────── minute (0-59)
Special characters in any field:
*: every value (every minute, every hour, etc.)5: exactly this value1,3,5: these specific values1-5: this range*/5: every 5 (starting at 0)9-17/2: every 2 between 9 and 17
Note: standard Unix cron uses 5 fields. Some systems (Quartz, AWS, k8s CronJob) add a 6th field for seconds, or a 7th for year. This tool handles standard 5-field expressions; for 6-field, prepend a seconds value.
